In the beginning there had been one rule. Then Noah was given two rules. Then comes Abraham who was called out from among the people of the earth. In his lifetime Abraham would become the illustration for generations later who were apart from the law and those under the law (we will cover Moses later).

Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the law but also to those who have the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all. – Romans 4:16 NIV

Abraham would become the living example of what it means to live a life of faith. Our Heavenly Father called Abraham  one who was  credited as being righteous because of his faith.
